Our Introductory courses and casual classes are designed for those who have no previous experience of yoga and are suitable for people of all ages, and all levels of fitness. Our progressive introductory curriculum systematically introduces and consolidates over 25 yoga poses (asanas), including a methodical introduction to shoulder stand. The course incorporates yoga techniques that are both beneficial and interesting to the beginning student, as well as being a basis for the ongoing practice of yoga. Students are encouraged to come to as many introductory classes as they are able to consolidate their practice and deepen their experience. Students with some previous experience also find these classes beneficial.
For those who have completed our 10-week Introductory course, or equivalent Iyengar yoga classes. Level 1 builds on the Introductory course asanas, including regular practice of shoulder stand, a methodical introduction to headstand, and an introduction to pranayama.
