Yarraville Yoga Centre offers a women only yoga course for survivors of trauma. The emphasis in a trauma sensitive yoga class is to create a safe, predictable and non-judgemental space in which participants explore the notion of “experience the body”. The trauma sensitive yoga session provides an opportunity to safely experiment with breathing, moving, strengthening, stretching and resting.
It can be an enormous part of the healing process for a trauma survivor to reclaim their body as their own. By developing a more positive relationship to the body, and learning calming and centering techniques, students may learn strategies to manage triggers in a safe, non-harmful way.
8 week course – Mondays, 1.45-2.30pm
3 Feb – 30 March 2020 (no classes on 9 March)
