How do I best select the level of class most appropriate to me?
Refer to our Class Levels page for information on each level. If you are still unsure about which level to attend, we recommend you attend the less experienced level – there is always something to learn! Then discuss your options with the teacher after class. Alternatively call the studio to discuss.
How do I prepare for my first yoga class?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move easily in. We supply all the mats and props for use in Introductory level classes, but you can bring your own. We have change rooms and storage areas for your shoes and belongings. We recommend drinking water after, not during class and do not eat a large meal 3-4 hours before class.
What happens if I am enrolled in a 10-week course and I miss a class?
If you miss a class you can make up a class of the same level by the end of that term, including during two- week term break.
What happens if I have a booking but circumstances prevent me from getting to class?
If you have made a booking but can’t make it to class, please call the studio or cancel on automated booking system so that another student may have the opportunity to take your place, especially when numbers are restricted for In-studio classes.
Studio doors will open 15mins before the start of class so you may arrive early and set up your mat. Please sign in or scan QR code on your way in and wear a face mask while moving around the space. Please turn off mobile phones and speak softly in studios.
Those attending On-line classes via Zoom from home, please ensure your screen is positioned so your mat is visible to your teacher, video is ON and audio OFF. Please do not arrive late or leave early.
How can I consolidate what I learn in class by practicing at home?
We have some printed practice sequences you can use at home as a guide. Also a library of recorded classes are available for viewing through internet at home. iYogaprops has a range of books, DVDs and props for sale.
YYC mats and blocks and chairs may be used and must be cleaned with alcohol before and after use. We encourage students to bring their own equipment to class.
At the minimum please bring your own belt (available for $10 at YYC) and a large cloth/sarong/towel to cover bolsters and shoulder stand cushions. alternatively a set of 2 slip covers and 1 bolster cover can be purchased for $18.
