Term 1…

Our new term of ten week courses commenced last week.  It was great to see so many new faces joining us for the first time as it has been a joy to reconnect with past students.

The past two years have been challenging in many ways.  In the tumult some students have drifted away from their practice  Having been touched by the power of the Iyengar yoga practice most of us will feel like we are pausing rather than leaving the path. But we know the sooner we get back to our practice the easier it will be to pick up and the sooner we will return to optimum health.

The phrase Iyengar Yoga – a Practice for Life is one we can all relate to.  Iyengar Yoga helps us to maintain optimum health mentally and physically from day to day.  Secondly due to the innovations of BKS Iyengar in making the techniques accessible, it is a practice that we can enjoy no matter our age throughout our life.

New live streaming facility
If you’re not yet comfortable attending live classes, Yarraville Yoga Centre offers state of the art live streaming of classes via Zoom.  We were one of the first studios in Australia to implement live oline classes at the start of the pandemic and we have now implemented an even more sophisticated facility in our main studio. We are one of very few schools in Australia now live streaming from two studios.  We are  able to offer premium accessibility and feedback to students both present in person and online.

Commit to a 10 week course.
Though it is not essential and students may attend at any time, we recommend that if possible you commit to a 10 week block of classes.  If you’ve missed week one don’t worry you’ll pick it up easily but try and get back as soon as you can. The structured development of an Introductory, Level 1 or Level 2 course over 10 weeks allows you to develop your understanding through gradual progression. 10 week courses run broadly in line with school terms.

Consider becoming a member.
For those attending 2 or more classes each week you might like to consider a Membership. It’s the best value and gives you access to unlimited classes at your level of practice. Includes attendance at Pranayama class, intensives and includes discounts for special workshops

Our members are the foundation of our community and offer us invaluable support.

Try our 10 week Introductory classes
For those new to yoga or to the Iyengar teaching method or for those returning to practice after a break we offer 10 week Introductory Courses.
There are 5 Introductory level classes each week to choose from.  Purchasing a 10 week Introductory Pass enables you attend any or all 5 classes.  You can bring your own gear if you like but we are able to provide all equipment (mats, blocks, bolsters, belts, chairs etc.).

Face to face classes give real feedback. And you will get the most benefit if you can commit to attending at least one or two classes each week. Regular practice enables you to learn and build on foundation poses from one week to the next.
With regular practice, after 10 weeks, you will gain enough knowledge and skill to move to the Level 1 classes and continue your experience and journey with Iyengar Yoga.

If you know someone who would benefit from yoga at this time, please let them know or consider a gift voucher. Ten week Introductory Level Courses and gift vouchers can be purchased here
