Welcome 2022!

Welcome to a new year at YYC. Our new term commences Monday, January 24th.

It has been wonderful to see so many students here over the summer months attending classes In-studio or Online.

We are looking forward to this new year of classes as we continue to support you in your practice. We strive to convey this extraordinary gift of the ancients so skillfully adapted Mr BKS Iyengar and others to meet the demands of an ever more challenging world.

“A stable mind is like the hub of a wheel. The world may spin around you, but the mind is steady.”

Many students will recall feeling different at the end of class. Somehow calmer, lighter, experiencing a sense of joy, refreshed. In Sanskrit this experience is called Santosa– contentment.

Make a resolution you can stick to and reap the benefits of a regular practice.

Our philosophical theme this term relates to the twin pillars of yoga ‘Abhyasa and Vairagya’. We will explore the role of action (abhyasa: continued effort) and stillness (vairagya: renunciation, or detachment) and how both aspects are vital to our yoga practice.

Changes:

Thank you to those who completed our online survey last year. As there continues to be a strong demand, we will continue to offer both In-Studio and Online classes. We have invested in a new set up, featuring a less obtrusive camera to improve how we do this. We appreciate your patience during the installation and adaptation to this new system.

In 2022, you can expect to see most of the classes you are familiar with, and some new additions.                                      New Early morning Level 1 Thursdays 6.30am, Outdoor yoga Thursdays 7am, Level 2 Led Practice Fridays 6.30am.

Farewell Paulette and Welcome Aurora.

Last year we said goodbye to Paulette Ziekemijjer who taught our Sunday classes. We are grateful for her wonderful service here and wish her every happiness in this new chapter of her life.

We are delighted to introduce Aurora who is joining our teaching team and will teach Thursday 6.45am L1 and 10 am Introductory. Madeline will be teaching the Sunday classes.
